This Old Barn

Hartville, Ohio and presently Latrobe, Pennsylvania

This Old Barn was originally constructed in 1898 in Hartville, Ohio.
The beams are oak and chestnut and the siding was yellow poplar.
The silo was made of tile with large metal rings inserted in every other course to stabilize the structure.
The top of the silo was a sheet metal cone with panels that opened for the blower pipe to fill the silo.
There were two planks across the top to stand on when filling the silo.
Henry Pontius sold the Barn and some land to Mr. Grigor in the late 1940's or 1950.

The Barn was disassembled and transported to Latrobe, Pennsylvania in 1987.
The timber framing of the Barn was in excellent condition and was used in its reconstruction.
However, all new siding was installed on the Barn and some of the original siding was used for flooring in the Barn.
