The information below describes and shows the process of repairing gun metal. The gun used for this demonstration is a Hopkins & Allen Falling Block Shotgun made in 1887-1896. This gun is from Zane Wilson's Collection.

This gun makes an excellent demonstration example because the metal to be welded has been previously repaired by brasing.
